OPEN KITCHEN | Methodology: Deep-Frying | Tuesday July 15, 2025
Learn foundational cooking methods as taught in our Professional Program. This is your opportunity to explore cooking techniques through twelve individual hands-on classes. These intensive workshops are perfect for the advanced home cook who is looking to learn the theory and science of food.

Get ready to take your cooking skills to the next level with our Deep-Frying cooking class! Whether you love the golden crunch of perfectly fried chicken, the satisfying crisp of hand-battered fish, or the indulgent bite of cheesy arancini, this class will teach you everything you need to know to fry like a pro.

Suggested recipes:
🐟 Fish & Chips with Tartare Sauce
Classic beer-battered fish served with crispy fries and a tangy house made tartare sauce.

🍗 Fried Chicken with Potato Salad
Juicy, flavourful fried chicken with a crunchy coating, paired with a creamy potato salad.

🧆 Arancini with Pesto & Tomato
Crispy, golden risotto balls stuffed with mozzarella cheese, served with a duo of house made pesto and tomato sauces.

THE FINE PRINT:

2. Class participants are required to wear closed toed shoes.

About Chef Instructor Eli Silverthorne:
Eli Silverthorne (Class of 2015) is a firm advocate for Canadian Cuisine, food history, and applied culinary sciences. After graduating from Stratford Chefs School with distinction, Eli worked under chefs Bryan Steele (The Prune), and Jonathan Gushue (Berlin), while accomplishing various stages across the country, from Araxi in Whistler, to Scaramouche and Richmond Station in Toronto, and Maison Publique in Montreal.

He enjoys slow food cooking methods, curing, smoking, preservation, and fermentation; and teaching the nuances of all things culinary. In addition to teaching practical, theory and food sciences programming at Stratford Chefs School, Chef Eli is also responsible for designing, organizing and leading cooking classes in the School's public Open Kitchen program.
